Pubs & Inns – Why showing happy customers matters

23 November Why showing happy customers matters

In the summer, we love going to pubs to enjoy a lazy lunch in their gardens, or to chill out and relax with friends on their patios.

In the winter, we’re attracted by cosy log fires and a convivial atmosphere, often as part of an enjoyable evening out with colleagues, or to enjoy a nice meal with family members.

But what makes you decide which pub to go to, or which new venue to try?

For instance, if you saw this photograph of a sunny, country pub would it really attract you to try it… or is something missing?

And if you saw this photograph on a pub’s website, is the paraphernalia and quirky interior of this venue enough to encourage you in…or does it need to add another level of information to gain your interest?

Or, if you wanted to try a new pub out and decided to check their website to see if the food looked good, would this type of photograph get your taste buds tingling…or is it missing a trick?

The reason we’re asking these questions is because we’ve recently been shooting two new videos for a very popular local pub in Fleet, Hampshire. It’s family run, in a lovely location right next to a canal, with a pub garden opposite the water, features at Number 2 in local Trip Advisor surveys, and has a very loyal customer base.

It’s also very community focused, with quiz nights, live music every week, dog-friendly, and does a lot for charity.

But photographs on their own could not possibly convey any of these elements, which is why Video 4 Business got involved.

We wanted to show all the best elements of The Fox & Hounds and how it is viewed by its customers…so we shot two videos to showcase the very best of this friendly venue:

  • The main video features the pub, the great team who work there, the welcoming atmosphere people experience when they visit, the tasty menu (you’ll see one of the “Specials” has already sold out), and what locals, diners, and occasional visitors think of the pub, owners and staff.

  • The 2nd video shows a Charity Day event hosted by The Fox & Hounds in August, with a terrific BBQ and party atmosphere created by happy customers (many of whom were families), with live music being played throughout the day.

After you’ve viewed both videos, we’d like to ask you if this type of information (on a pub’s website or social media channels) is more likely to attract you to try out a new venue, rather than the bland photographs so many places rely on?

People miss so much if they just rely on photographs. There is no feedback, no idea of what the atmosphere is like, no “feel” for the place, nothing they can relate to, no idea of what they can really expect…or candid opinions from customers about their favourite place to visit for a meal, a drink, or just to enjoy some downtime.

So…Video 4 Business is on a mission. We want to showcase the best pubs and pub/restaurants in Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex and Berkshire. To really show people how good they are, what potential customers can expect when they visit them, and to help the venues we work with to generate more business, gain loyal, long term new customers, and to encourage people to find the hidden gems in our area.

Want to find out more? Then please contact us to discuss how we can work with you to help your pub promote itself to new customers (far and wide).
